Los días 25 y 26 de mayo de 2023 se celebró en San José de Costa Rica la reunión de los tres tribunales regionales de derechos humanos, que congregó a un total de 25 naciones. La organización del encuentro internacional contó con el apoyo del proyecto de la cooperación alemana "Derecho Internacional Regional y Acceso a la Justicia en América Latina" (DIRAJus). Jueces y abogados de la Corte Africana de Derechos Humanos y de los Pueblos y del Tribunal Europeo de Derechos Humanos se reunieron en San José por invitación de la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos (Corte IDH) para debatir cuestiones de derecho internacional y derechos humanos, cambio climático y medio ambiente a partir de las aportaciones de expertos de renombre.
Como parte del diálogo entre las cortes, se llevó a cabo un Seminario Internacional público titulado "Sistemas Regionales de Protección de Derechos Humanos y sus desafíos", el cual contó con la participación de las presidencias de las tres cortes y se realizó en el Auditorio de la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Costa Rica.
En su declaración final, las tres Cortes regionales de Derechos Humanos reconocen que la democracia y los derechos humanos son inseparables del desarrollo sostenible. Acuñaron la fórmula fácil de retener de las "tres D": democracia, derechos humanos y desarrollo sostenible.
La base del intercambio es la Declaración de San José, firmada hace cinco años por los presidentes de los tres Cortes regionales de Derechos Humanos con ocasión del 40 aniversario de la Corte IDH. Esta declaración creó un foro establecido para el intercambio mutuo de experiencias y la identificación de retos comunes en la protección de los derechos humanos entre las tres Cortes. El proyecto DIRAJus apoyó esta iniciativa. Está financiado por el Ministerio Federal Alemán de Cooperación Económica y Desarrollo (BMZ), que también apoyó la reunión de este año de las tres Cortes de Derechos Humanos.

Human rights as the foundation of a sustainable state
On May 25 and 26, 2023, the meeting of the three regional human rights Courts was held in San José, Costa Rica, bringing together a total of 25 nations. The organization of the international meeting was supported by the German cooperation project "International Regional Law and Access to Justice in Latin America" (DIRAJus). Judges and lawyers from the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights and the European Court of Human Rights met in San José at the invitation of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) to discuss issues of international law and human rights, climate change and the environment based on the contributions of renowned experts.
As part of the international dialogue among the Courts, an international public seminar entitled "Regional Systems for the Protection of Human Rights and their Challenges" was held in the Auditorium of the Law School of the University of Costa Rica, with the participation of the presidents of the three Courts.
In their final declaration, the three regional human rights courts recognized that democracy and human rights are inseparable from sustainable development. They coined the handy formula of the "three Ds": democracia, derechos humanos y desarrollo sostenible (democracy, human rights, and sustainable development).
The basis for the dialogue is the Declaration of San José, signed five years ago by the presidents of the three regional Human Rights Courts on the 40th anniversary of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. This declaration created an established forum for the mutual exchange of experiences and the identification of common challenges in the protection of human rights among the three Courts. The DIRAJus project supported this initiative. It is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), which also supported this year's meeting of the three Human Rights Courts.
